Multiple fights at Central Station in Fredericksburg progressed into multiple shots fired.
Two men were shot and a large crowd interfered with officers trying to make an arrest early Sunday at KC's Music Alley and Central Station, Natatia Bledsoe, a City of Fredericksburg Police Department spokesperson told Patch. Officers were in the area due to previous altercations during certain types of events at this facility, Bledsoe said. At about 1:50 a.m., an officer nearby but not on the property called in on the radio that he heard multiple shots fired, coming from the venue. Responding law enforcement encountered hundreds of people exiting the building, Bledsoe said. A security guard was assisting one victim, who had been shot in the leg. Woodbridge store will be spared.
Two Best Buy stores in the Northern Virginia area will be closing, Best Buy announced Saturday. The Woodbridge store at 2730 Prince William Parkway will remain open as the company closes 42 of its "big box" stores. Stores in Fredericksburg and Landmark Mall will be closing. In a press release Saturday, the company said it was "not an easy decision to make" in closing the stores. "We will be working to help these employees find other positions inside Best Buy," said the press release. "If they don’t find new positions, or if they choose not to work at a different location, a transition including severance packages will be available."
