Cold Missing Person Case Now A Homicide Investigation
Family members of Cynthia Gastelle who went missing from her Maryland home in 1980 found out last month her remains were discovered in Prince William County in 1982 and her death is being investigated as a homicide.
Family members of Cynthia Gastelle had no idea she wouldn't return when she left her Takoma Park, MD, home in April of 1980. They've held out hope for the last 32 years she would be found alive. But just last month, they were notified that investigators had positively identified remains found in the Haymarket area of Prince William County by a hiker in 1982 as those of Gastelle. Now, police in Prince William County are investigating her death as a homicide and seeking the public's help in their investigation. They are looking to talk to people who may have known Gastelle or seen her the day she went missing.
