Gar-Field Basketball Coach Earns 300th Win

Defeats Potomac 72-59

Last Tuesday against Potomac high school, Andy Gray won his 300th game as the head coach of Gar-Field men's basketball. Although the win was certainly a milestone worth boasting about, Gray downplayed the event saying that he was just as proud of win 299 as he is of win 300. The game took place on the Panthers' home court; the final score was 72-59. “I'm real proud of them,” said Gray. “We came in here under some adverse conditions within our team, and we told them all along that there are going to be times that all of them at some point are going to have to step in and perform. And to do it in an environment like this where [Potomac] has a tremendous tradition and an outstanding program, it's a big deal.” Gar-Field was without starter …

Gar-Field Mens Basketball Opens Season Undefeated

Fong leads Indians in scoring

Gar-Field boys basketball opened its season with back-to-back wins last week, one against King George (66-60) and one against Edison (58-47), led by the long range shooting of junior guard Zach Fong. Fong made five three pointers and scored 23 points against the Foxes and four three pointers and 17 points against the Eagles. The Indians lost five of their top six players to graduation last year and return only one starter; now in his nineteenth year as Gar-Field head coach, Andy Gray is challenged with a young team still building continuity.
