Airport Holiday Travel Tips from MWAA

Information, websites and more that can help you get through the airport.

With the holidays comes holiday traveling and Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority has tips for customers traveling through Dulles International and Reagan National airports.  “We advise our customers to plan ahead and arrive early during peak times this holiday season,” said Jack Potter, MWAA President and CEO in a press release. “We are committed to providing an excellent, welcoming experience to all travelers who come to our airports — especially at this time of the year.” This year the Transportation Security Administration introduced TSAPre✓, a dedicated security checkpoint for passengers who are approved for expedited screening. Connolly Calls For Metro to Prince William County Summit

U.S. Rep. Gerry Connolly on Monday is having a Metrorail Summit to start the discussion about extending rail to Prince William County. Is it feasible? Where and when is the meeting? Harbour View, 13200 Marina Way, Woodbridge, VA 22191, at 6:30 p.m.

Can the federal and state government find a way to bring Metrorail to Prince William County? And do the residents want it? Those are questions that U.S. Rep. Gerry Connolly wants to address Monday at his Metrorail Summit at Harbour View with a panel of speakers.  Speakers on the panel are: There will be a time slot when people at the event can ask questions. “Metrorail to Prince William County is one transit option we should look at as a solution to relieve congestion at a reasonable cost to consumers,” Connolly said in a press release.  “We are not saying that Metro should be extended, but it is important that we study its feasibility.”  Connolly has filed a bill that requests federal funding to study the feasibility of extending rail to …

Torian Wants Rail to Woodbridge

Del. Luke Torian co-signed a letter sent Wednesday to the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority asking that updates to metro maps show stations in Fort Belvoir and Woodbridge

Del. Luke Torian joined two other democratic lawmakers this week to ask the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority to include rail stations in Fort Belvoir and Woodbridge when it updates the Metro map this year. Torian, Del. Scott Surovell and Sen. Toddy Puller all co-signed the letter to MWAA board members urging them to conceptualize the extension of the Yellow Line to Fort Belvoir and the Blue Line intro Woodbridge. The Metro map hasn't been redesigned in 40 years, the letter states.  The Silver Line that extends rail from Falls Church to Dulles International Airport and eastern Loudoun County will be put on the map.
