Latino leaders who attended an economic roundtable discussion with U.S. Senate candidate Tim Kaine Wednesday strongly agreed with him on investing in education to provide jobs and boost the economy.
Tim Kaine, speaking in both English and Spanish, told those in attendance Wednesday that investing in education and infrastructure is key to bringing jobs to the state and boosting the nation's economy. "Infrastructure and transportation investments are not only critical for our long-term economic success, but they also put folks to work immediately," Kaine said. "Unfortunately, the same anti-investment mentality that has plagued Richmond for years is taking hold in Washington." Lake Ridge-Occoquan Patch: The annual Duck Splash Race returned to Occoquan this weekend. Over 2000 yellow rubber ducks plunged into the Occoquan River today and then took their sweet time getting to the dock in the Annual Duck Splash Race. The ducks were up for adoption to benefit the Prince William Trails and Streams Coalition. There was even a monetary prize for those adopting winning ducks. Read the entire story, here. Updated 4 p.m. Friday, March 2 From PRTC: PRTC is pleased to report that negotiators for First Transit and the union representing the PRTC bus operators (the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees; AFSCME) have reached a tentative labor agreement. The AFSCME bargaining team will recommend the bus operators ratify the agreement in a vote scheduled for Sunday, March 4, between 10 a.m. and noon. As a result, strike preparations have been suspended, and buses will continue to operate regular service.
