Despite a previous announcement to the contrary, Jacquie López of Occoquan's Cock & Bowl has decided to close the restaurant on Mother's Day. "Due to unforeseen circumstances, we are not opening for Mother’s Day," López said. The restaurant is also currently hiring. Other Mother's Day stories:

After previously announcing he would take reservations for Mother's Day, Blue Arbor Café owner Stephen Power said the restaurant will remain closed on the holiday. "Due to a few unforeseen circumstances, I have made the difficult decision to stay closed on Mothers Day," Power said in an email. "We just couldn't make it work." The restaurant will not take walk-ins.
Cock & Bowl in Occoquan is taking reservations for Mother's Day. The restaurant will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for reservations only. No walk-ins will be accepted. "Last year we were booked solid," owner Jacquie Lopez said. The European restaurant will offer a special Mother's Day menu. Four Washington Street businesses are participating.
Four shops on Washington Street in Occoquan are teaming up to give away a $1200 gift basket for Mother's Day. "You won’t believe this basket once you see it," Touch of Gold owner Carrie Manderfield said. "It has fine jewelry, gourmet foods with wine, home décor items, and Brighton." Touch of Gold, Gourmet Cottage, Willow Street Décor and The Clothesline have all donated to the basket. You can enter to win the basket by buying tickets at $2 each. Tickets will also be given to customers who stop by any of the four businesses, customers who purchase any items, and customers who refer other customers. The Pink Bicycle Tea Room in Occoquan is taking reservations for Mother's Day. Three seatings will be available: 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m., and 4:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m., owner Lisa Johnson said. "We will be offering a four course tea," Johnson said. The tea includes soup, salad, fresh baked scones with cream and jam, and a tower of tea sandwiches, savories, petite desserts and fresh fruit. The tea is $35 per person, not including gratuity or tax. "We do have the capacity to seat a group of 12 in one dining room," Johnson said.
