It's the holiday season in Occoquan.
Thanks to the efforts of the Business Guild of Occoquan, tomorrow, Saturday, Dec. 1, at noon, Santa Claus will arrive in town by boat. After disembarking at the town pier he will travel to Town Hall (314 Mill Street) where he will meet with children to discuss their Christmas wishes. The following day, Sunday, December 2, the annual Town Blessing, offered by the congregation of Ebenezer Baptist Church, will take place at 5:30 p.m., at the historic church at the corner of Commerce and Washington Streets. It will be followed promptly by the free town holiday party on the second floor ofMadigan's Waterfront restaurant.

Santa will visit with children at the Occoquan Town Hall.
No reindeer-drawn sleigh for Occoquan — Santa Claus makes an exception for the riverfront town and arrives each year by boat. This year, Santa will arrive at the Occoquan dock on Dec. 1 at noon, escorted by Rivershore Charter. He will then make his way through town on an Occoquan-Woodbridge-Lorton Volunteer Fire Department engine, and stop by the Occoquan Town Hall, to visit with children and ask them what they want this holiday season. To see other Santa appearances in the area, check out our Woodbridge area Santa map. Santa also recently appeared in the Old Bridge Parade. Check out our gallery. Santa passed through Lake Ridge this morning, not in a sleigh drawn by reindeer, but in an Occoquan-Woodbridge-Lorton Volunteer Fire Department engine. Were you at the parade? Add your photos by clicking on the upload button above! Santa was at the end of the annual parade, which started at Lake Ridge Middle School at about 10 a.m. and made its way west to Dillingham Square. Local schools, churches, and elected officials also made appearances alongside police officers mounted on horseback, antique cars, and a boy on a unicycle. The parade shut down the westbound side of Old Bridge Road, which clogged traffic on the eastbound side as both eastbound and westbound traffic shared one side of the road. A minor car accident delayed the …

The parade starts at 10 a.m.
The annual Santa's Old Bridge Parade is Nov. 10 at 10 a.m. and will march along Old Bridge Road from Lake Ridge Middle School to Dillingham Square. The parade will likely cause traffic delays, as westbound traffic on Old Bridge will take up one lane on the eastbound side of the road. Delays are expected through the end of the parade. For other Santa sightings in the Woodbridge area, check out our map. And take a look back on Santa's visit to Occoquan last year when he arrived by boat.
