Rosie Clark is hosting a Zumbathon to raise money to fight hunger in the greater DC area.
Local Zumba instructor Rosie Clark doesn't want any child in Prince William County to go hungry. She vividly remembers going hungry as a child growing up in Dale City, and this Sunday, she's holding a Zumbathon to raise money to fight hunger in the greater DC area. "When I was growing up right here in PWC, we went without hot water, electricity and food. I remember having nothing but white bread and ketchup sandwiches for a meal, or splitting a can of pork and beans with my brother while my mom went completely hungry. Luxury for us was saving up a dollar or two worth of change and walking a mile (my mom didn't have a car) …

So for anyone who has been following my adventures around the area exploring ways to get fit, you have probably realized that, although I go to a particular class at a particular place, that class may be held in many various gyms or fitness centers. So here’s a recap of where we’ve been so far with some of the various places you can find those classes being offered. Spinning Way back at the beginning, I tried a Spinning class for the first time, at the Sharron Baucom Dale City Recreation Center. You can also find Spinning or cycling classes at: Yoga When I tried out yoga, the Dale City Recreation Center was giving a free month of classes and offering multiple levels of yoga. Whether you have a Wii, a Playstation or an Xbox360 there are plenty of options for fitness games.
As we enter summer, it is almost mandatory to spend more time outdoors and active. From the pool to your bicycle, the office softball league to even mowing the lawn, we may find that all of these activities would be so much more enjoyable if we were more physically fit. The challenges of working and commuting in the DC region mean that there is never enough time to get in a good workout as often as we want to. We need a convenient, always available routine that won't be derailed by unpredictable weather or traffic and that has that fun factor to have us actually look forward to working hard. All of the three major gaming consoles have moved beyond games that involving killing bad guys or racing against fantasy characters. The Wii …
