Moped Driver Dies After Collision in Parking Lot

The driver was unable to stop after a car crossed in front of his moped in the Featherstone Square parking lot.

A Woodbridge man died from his injuries after a collision with a car in the Featherstone Square parking lot Thursday evening, Prince William County Police said.

Ray Daugherty, 53, was flown to a hospital for treatment, but died the same evening. Police had responded to Featherstone Square on Jefferson Davis Highway at 6:08 p.m. While traveling eastbound through the parking lot, driver of a 2005 Hyundai Tucson had reportedly made a left turn in the path of Daugherty's 2012 Chongqig Renegade Moped, police spokesman Officer Jonathan Perok said.

Daugherty was unable to stop and collided with the driver. No charges have been filed against the car driver, a 26 year old man of Charlotte, North Carolina. Police continue to investigate.
