Police: Lorton Man Charged With Stealing Safe From Woodbridge Home

Lorton resident Ronald McNeil has been charged with burglary and grand larceny after a safe with a firearm and an undisclosed amount of cash was stolen from a Woodbridge home, Prince William County Police spokesperson Jonathan Perok. 

Police responded to a Cove Landing Drive home on Aug. 25 at 5:44 p.m. for the report of a burglary. The homeowner told police that the burglary happened between 5:35 p.m. and 5:44 p.m. that day.

"Entry appeared to have been made through the front door which had been pried open. A safe, containing a firearm and an undisclosed amount of U.S. Currency, was reported missing," Perok said. "While investigating, officers were able to develop a suspect, later identified as the accused. Following the investigation, detectives obtained warrants for the accused who was later located and arrested at his residence. The accused was determined to be a known acquaintance of the victim."

McNeil was arrested Aug. 25 and charged with burglary and grand larceny. His court date is unavailable.
