Police: Man Goes on Crime Spree, Robs Two Women in One Day

Authorities report that a 45-year-old Woodbridge man went on a day-long crime spree Friday, when he was accused of robbing two woman stealing money from a restaurant.

Clarence Leonard Thomas, Jr., was charged with two counts of robbery and one count of grand larceny, according to the Prince William County Police Department.

Authorities said that it began at 6:35 a.m. at the Horner commuter parking lot at 2250 Prince William Parkway. A 43-year-old woman told police that she was walking through the parking lot when she was approached by an unknown car. The driver grabbed the victim’s purse that was hanging on her shoulder. The woman was dragged a short distance before the purse became free. The driver fled the area. authorities said the woman sustained minor injuries.

At 9:01 a.m., police were called to the 1300 block of Bayside Ave. in Woodbridge for the report of a second robbery. A 37-year-old woman told police she was walking in the area when she was approached by a man who knocked her to the ground and took her purse. The man fled in a car matching the description of the earlier robbery, police report. The victim sustained minor injuries.

Later in the afternoon, at about 3:28 p.m., officers responded to a larceny at the Soul Food Restaurant on 13325 Woodbridge St. authorities said that a man had entered the business, approached the counter, and grabbed money from the cash register when the clerk’s back was turned.

Authorities said that the man was seen getting into a car that matched both of the earlier robbers. Authorities caught up with the car on Jefferson Davis Highway near the Prince William Parkway.

The driver was arrested following an investigation, police said.
