Two bodies were recovered overnight off a dock in the Montclair area following an apparent drowning, according to Prince William County Police. The victims include a six-year-old girl.

The bodies of Grace Darlene Shields, 40, and her daughter, Raina Alexandra Shields, 6, were found after a search by first responders overnight. Another daughter, 9, was placed into the care of Child Protective Services until family was notified.

A neighbor found the 9-year-old screaming by a walkway leading down to Lake Montclair at 8:30 p.m. Thursday, according to Officer Mark Merriman with Prince William County Police.

"The neighbor took the child back to her home and waited for the rest of the family to return," Merriman said in a statement. "When they did not return, and after attempts within the neighborhood to locate them, they called the police."

The search for the two missing family members included canvassing of the neighborhood and an aerial search by a Fairfax County Police helicopter.

A police SCUBA team eventually recovered the two bodies close to the dock near the girl's home on Royal Crescent Court. Police are investigating the incident as a drowning.
